Beautiful weather (cool and sunny) and a beautiful course for a trail run. The course was a mixture of arid grasslands with grand, sweeping views and cool, wet forest with comfortable running. There were a couple of big climbs (and descents) in the course, but much of the distance was covered by long, totally runnable sections. There were a few isolated wet spots to throw in some punctuating challenges and to give the course it's appropriate nickname of "Dirty Feet".
Despite having not been running a substantial amount, I was able to run consistently and felt good throughout the race. I held my pace pretty well and only at one point felt like I was having to work for it (coming into the last aid station). At that point there was only 4km left, so I was essentially home free. Overall it was a fun day and I had a great time.
